Apalachee School House - Apalachee Georgia
The Apalachee School is an old one-room schoolhouse. Apalachee, Georgia is located about seven miles north of Madison along Highway 441. In 1910 the Apalachee School, a large two-story building, was moved to its present location. Although the schools of Morgan County have long been consolidated, the old Apalachee School has been revitalized as a community educational center.
Round America just happened to see a sign for the old schoolhouse on the first day of the first trip Round America as we passed Farmington on Highway 441 headed to Madison. So, we turned off the road to see what we could see. We were delighted to see a classic little red schoolhouse nicely restored. There was no one around, but we looked around, signed the guest book, and left a note of appreciation on the chalk board. Location: The Apalachee School House is located in Apalachee, Georgia -- seven miles north of Madison along Highway 441. Date Round America Visited: April 1, 2003.
